Family Heirloom Gown Reconstruction

Our most personal heirloom reconstruction is also the origin story for Betsy Wise Bridal.

Although Betsy was already highly skilled in sewing and clothing design, the first wedding gown she ever created was in 2012 for her sister. This gown, originally made by Betsy’s great-grandmother and worn by both her grandmother and mother, was beautifully reconstructed for her sister Margot’s wedding day. This creative and meaningful family collaboration was what sparked Betsy's passion for bridal tailoring, marking the beginning of her journey into the world of custom bridal design.

Consultation and Design

We began with ideas and sketches, refining our vision until we found the perfect design for Margot’s rustic DIY Berkshire wedding. While crafting a fresh and modern gown silhouette from newly purchased fabrics, Betsy meticulously deconstructed the delicate antique lace from the original gown and relocated each piece by hand, creating this one-of-a-kind masterpiece.
